Exploring a lesser-known London district with a very important place in the history of our nation.
We meet our guide and have time for morning refreshments (not included) before seeking out the visible reminders of our postal history from the inns where the mail coaches called with their scarlet clad , blunderbuss wielding guards tot he coffee houses that were part of the Penny Post network, following visual clues of old parish markings, street signs, property marks and shops signs to deliver Penny Post letters from the time before houses numbers or postcodes.
Free time will be given in Exmouth Market where you can purchase lunch before we continue in the afternoon to visit the brand new state of the art Postal Museum, where you can enjoy an incredible collection spanning five centuries and also ride the hidden tunnels of the Mail Rail, a unique piece of industrial heritage that kept the capital's communication network flowing for over 75 years.
